Welcome to Fifth Grade!

Hello! Welcome to my 5th grade classroom. I am looking forward to working with your child this year. I have many exciting activities planned for this year. If you want an idea of what we will be doing this year, be sure to check out the rest of the website, especially the class pictures.

I attended Clinton Central (both elementary and high school) in Michigantown. After I graduated from high school, I enrolled at Ball State University. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with endorsements in Special Education MiMH (mildly mentally handicapped) and Computers. In 2001, I went back to Indiana Wesleyan to work on my Masters of Education. I earned my Masters of Education in the winter of 2002. During the 2008-2009, I went through training to become a mentor to new teachers. I am looking forward to helping new teachers as they begin their adventure in education.

I have been married to a wonderful man for just over a year. Mike is very loving and supportive of me. He is currently working for Virtual Rabbit, a company that develops virtual tours for companies across the United States. Mike has just recently acquired his travel agents license. He is looking forward to his new business venture. We live about 25 minutes south of Logansport with our cats, George and Sam, and our dog, Quinn. We enjoy spending time together and with our families. I have two great nephews ages 11 and 7. Since marrying Mike, I have also gained 3 nieces and 10 more nephews!

I have taught for Logansport Community School Corporation for 11 years, and I am very excited about starting my 12th year with this corporation. I taught at Fairview Elementary and Columbia Elementary my first year of teaching. I have been at Landis Elementary since 1999. From the fall of 1998 to the spring of 2002, I taught the 3rd-5th grade Cross Categorical Classroom. During the 2002-2003 school year, I taught 3rd grade. I transferred to 2nd grade in the fall of 2003, which I taught for three years. When I was given the opportunity in 2006 to move to 5th grade, I jumped at the chance! I will be beginning my fourth year in fifth grade during the 2009-2010 school year, and I still love it!

After taking a year off, I am going to be back on the Landis School Wide Improvement team for the 2009-2010 school year. Previously, I had been on this committee from 2002-2008.I am a member of the Logansport Technology Committee (2007-present) and the Landis Technology Committee (2007-present). During the 2008-2009 school year, I became a member of the corporation Literacy Committee.

I have been coaching the 4th & 5th grade girls basketball team with Mr. Anders for the last two years, and I am looking forward to coaching again this school year. Miss McKinzie and I are the coaches for the Battle of the Books team, which competes in a county wide competition at the Logansport Public Library each spring during National Library Week. During the 2009-2010 school year, Landis Elementary will be having the first ever Spell Bowl Team which I will be coaching. I am looking forward to this new opportunity to work with students from Landis Elementary.

Again, welcome to my 5th grade classroom. Be sure to check out the other web pages on this website. I have included links to my homework policy and behavior policy. I also have a calendar that is updated monthly with important dates. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please be sure to contact me. My contact information is listed below.
