Unit 1: The Land and Early People

 In Unit 1, we will be studying our nation's geography and states. Students will be learning where all the states are located along with matching states to the correct capitals. Students will be learning about the major body of waters located in the United States. Students will also be learning about different landforms which make up the United States. Our classroom will be participating in a 50 States Postcard Exchange to learn more about the United States of America.

 Unit 1 also covers Native Americans. We will be learning about early people, Woodlands, the Plains, the Southwest and the West, and the Northwest and the Arctic. Students will be participating in classroom activities such as making group posters to display information about each group of Native Americans. Students will also be developing their own Native American projects.
